About D. Dow Stick: D. Dow Stick is an advanced practice registered nurse in Western North Carolina. She was born into a family of medical professionals. Both grandfathers were physicians and her maternal grandmother and namesake, Doris Dow, served as a nurse. Dow was an RN for 15 years, with fond memories of travel nursing to Sydney and meaningful experience in hospice work before earning a master’s degree in nursing in 2016. Subsequently, she’s provided primary and palliative care to older adults as a certified family nurse practitioner. She has a sincere interest in the advocacy and support of those living with dementia, including her own grandmother, now 94 years old.
Overwhelmed by medical responsibilities during the pandemic, Dow set an intention on finding professional work that not only offered more creativity and fun but also honored her nursing expertise in geriatrics. She blogged creatively for a time and then discovered the RN2Writer program via a Facebook advertisement. In Feb. 2022 she took a leap of faith by enrolling in Elizabeth Haynes’ course: Content Marketing Writing for Nurses. She’s since launched a freelance writing business and can be contacted through LinkedIn or www.NurseWriterDow.com.

Host Elizabeth Hanes BSN RN built a six-figure writing business in her spare time. Today, she coaches other nurses how to become freelance writers through the RN2writer project.
